furryli.st — Building Communities Without Landlords From the Protocol Up

The AT Protocol guarantees sovereignty to the user. But it does not yet do the same for communities. Community stewards, like platforms, become landlords by necessity. Can we address this from the protocol up?

In this presentation, I’ll use furryli.st, which defines and serves a community of 60,000+ furries on the AT Protocol, as a case study to deconstruct the "community" into distinct roles and relationships, identify existing protocol-native analogues, and propose what needs to be built next to create resilient, protocol-native communities defined by people, rather than infrastructure.
