What to expect :
*** Two full days foraging learning about poisonous and edible fungi - from 10 am to 4 pm **
* Memorise confidently at least 10 mushrooms by the time that you leave the weekend, this workshop is curated so that you go home with the proper I.d points in your memory banks .
*** Have the confidence to go out and pick them yourself after the retreat **
* Make new friends and join our fungi community!
**Join us for a two-day immersive fungi retreat nestled in the heart of Dartmoor, southwest Devon. This retreat is all about diving deep into the world of fungi, with a special focus on edible varieties. **
Please find your own accomodation if coming from afar.
We will meet each day for a three-to-four-hour guided walk to discover and learn about the fungi around us. Then we will cook them in the woods.
Johnny Tidd will also be facilitating the study and research into the fungi we have found in the afternoon.
Location **** for the fungi walks : In South Devon at 2 separate locations . We will drive there in the mornings all together .
What to bring **** : warm clothing , waterproof clothing , waterproof boots or shoes .
A notebook and coloured pens if you have them . We will be drawing the fungi .
Something to sit on whilst we are drawing and learning about the fungi .
Please bring a pack lunch for the walks
Facilitators - Rosy
Rosy Prowse is an artist and field mycologist working with mushrooms for over 8 years. Her approach is fun, explorative and sensory. Creatively working with scientific knowledge and safe practices in the field, she has a reverence for the natural world. Her fascination for fungi will draw you into the web of the weird and wonderful.
Johnny Tidd has been studying fungi for six seasons and has studied with the renowned professional mycologist Christian Taylor for three seasons. Johnny has a total fascination with all things of plant and fungi variety and what is out there to eat. He comes from a bushcraft and survival background, so really wants to inspire people to be able to feed themselves without being chained to society or supermarkets.
Johnny Tidd has run his own Bushcraft school all over the UK for the last 12 years .
