About

Hemlock is the swamp-raised, “phone-fi" alt-folk project of multi-disciplinary creative force Carolina Chauffe, currently anchored in south Louisiana, but more often on the highway. Doggedly DIY, touring nearly nonstop for the past few years on “permatour”, they strive to return music to where it has always existed - the house show, the porch, the field, the waterside.

An avid documenter and amateur archivist, Chauffe touts a prolific discography spanning hundreds of self-released songs since the project formed in 2018, including their ongoing phone-recorded song-a-day for-a-month saga, among a number of other studio albums. With a cast of rotating collaborators, their most recent studio LP, '444', was independently released in October 2024, featuring a wrecking crew of Chicago bandmates (Andy of Ratboys, Bailey of Friko, Jack of Free Range), and EP ‘Orange Streak Glow’ in November 2025, co-produced by Ryan Albert of Babehoven.

Frontperson Carolina has also toured & recorded in such acts as Little Mazarn (2019-present) and Merce Lemon (2023-present), among many others.

They are a neighbor, a gatherer, and a hopeful for a free Palestine, for a free tomorrow for all.

They will be a road dog for as long as they can, and a music-maker for as long as they live. They believe in miracles, and their favorite color lately is green.

***Please note that the majority of hemlock's music is no longer available on Spotify, in protest of founder Daniel Ek's multi-million dollar investments in AI military killer drone technology (among other things), but their releases are still currently listenable everywhere else you may typically seek music on the worldwideweb - primarily on hemlock.bandcamp.com ***

Westelaken is a Toronto based band that at their simplest is a tight and twangy alt-country quartet. But they’re also prone to letting their songs open up, and following their whims beyond the confines of structure and convention, like lines of text spilling off of a page. In solo performance Jordan embraces intimacy and tension, leaning into the quiet, while the lines of text gather on the floor and lay like a nest hair clippings.
