Our blood is a river of spirits. Our bones and marrow carry the memory of where we have come from, who we once were, and how and where we lived before our estrangement. Before the village. Beyond the edge of our memories within modernity. We carry the memory of Home; we also carry the heartbreak of our Homelessness. These two streams of remembering are the foundations of _ encant _ .

encant is an 8-week course on the study and practice of the poetics of an inner animism, in which we reclaim poetry as an energetic and spiritual practice of remembering, true-speaking, awakening and perhaps even spell-making and prophecy.

In the world of encant, a good poem is one that carries potency across space and time; words that cause the spirits to attend. During this course, we'll be exploring how we can create such multidimensional objects, how we can invite them and refine them.

Well, that all sounds fantastic and vague. What does this actually look like?

The course includes:
Eight weekly 2-hr video calls in which we’ll move along a pathway from practices of attention and awakening through the arts of encanting (or composition) and the craft of refinement (or editing), to arrive at practices of transmission - how to speak our words to the worlds beyond and within us.
Three 90-minute community calls, sharing work with peers and building connection with our encant cohort.
One 1-hr mentoring session (or two 30-minute sessions) with me.
Access to course materials, including recordings of the calls and further written and recorded material on the subjects covered.

This encant group have their calls on Friday evening* (8pm UK time) - if a morning session would work better for you, check out the _encant_ (cedar) cohort, who have their calls on the same day as cedar, but at 10am (UK time.) Hopefully, one of those groups will work for your timezone! (* apart from the seventh session, which is on Wednesday 4th November.)
