About
An experimental space to feel, express + embody our humanity
Step into the studio and come on a group journey where embodiment, play, theatre, poetry and emotive expression become ways of exploring what it means to be alive. We will practice stop trying to get it right and experiment with being real + human.
Many of us have become very good at thinking about our lives, setting goals and reaching achievements, without actually inhabiting them. We experience uncomfortable emotions and find ways to avoid and suppress them. We build a life we love and yet still find ourselves overthinking about how we need to improve.
In LIVING ART we will explore improvised creative expression as a way to discover what emerges when we meet our inner world with curiosity instead of judgement and presence instead of escape.
This isn't about learning choreography, techniques, acting skills or forcing yourself to be more expressive - it's a tender yet playful way of being seen in our aliveness.
When we do this we learn essential skills for meeting our humanity in a new way. Often we will experience feelings that have been hidden or waiting to be felt and giving them space allows us to really embrace different parts of being alive. You can expect tears, laughter, raw emotions and profound insights.
This is a space where you don't need to explain yourself, analyse your experience, fix anything or achieve an outcome. We're leaning in to what's there and learning from our own creative journey.
What to expect
- Guided embodiment practices
- Playful experimentation
- Emotive expression
- Reflection & integration
Everything is optional but some practices may evoke big emotions, so this event is suitable for people who feel able to hold themselves through emotions and also whilst witnessing other's in their experiences.
Come in clothes you feel comfortable moving around in.
Whether you feel playful, quiet, awkward, expressive, joyful or uncertain, it is a welcome and important aspect of being human.
You are likely to leave feeling like you have met yourself and others in a deeper way.
