Dive into Collaborative Vocal Improvisation | Taster Session

CVI is the playful art of creating spontaneous vocal music together. In this one-off taster session we’ll use vocal games, body-based rhythm, listening practices and accessible group forms to discover what can happen when voices meet in the moment.

✨ What to expect

This is a space to explore, have fun and get a feel for the CVI world. You don’t need any previous improvisation experience, and all levels of confidence are welcome.

If you enjoy singing, are curious about using your voice with others, or simply want an evening of connection, play and collective sound-making, you are very welcome.

🌿 We will gently explore:

• playful ways into spontaneous song
• listening, responding and weaving voices together
• simple circle-based forms and group patterns
• rhythm, texture and non-verbal vocal play
• how it feels to make music from the collective imagination

💛 How we hold the space

Our intention is to create a warm, grounded and encouraging space : enough safety to arrive as you are, and enough stretch to discover something new in your voice.

The session is open to beginners, experienced singers and everyone in between. You are invited to participate at the level that feels right for you.

**Please arrive from 5:45 so that we can start the session at 6pm. **

• People who love singing and want to explore improvising with others
• Singers who want more freedom, play and confidence in their voice
• People curious about smaller group CVI forms, circle singing, embodied rhythm and group-created music
• People who can generally hold a tune and a basic sense of rhythm
