About
Join us for an evening on the 29th of August on all things Fire! Located in the woodlands of Hackeny . We will spend the night learning to tend a fire the old way, identifying the trees that surround us, and gathering around the flames for mythic folklore and storytelling. Followed by food cooked over the fire and a night beneath the stars guided by Harry Bucknell.
Reading the Wood: We begin before the fire is lit. Out in the woodland with Harry, learning to identify trees by bark, leaf, and smell, and to understand why each wood burns differently. Oak, ash, birch, hawthorn. What each one gives, and what it asks of you.
The Ancient Art of Fire-Tending: Not a lighter in sight. We learn to build, lay, and tend a fire the way our ancestors did, understanding airflow, structure, ember-making, and how to keep a fire alive through the night. Hands-on, unhurried, and deeply satisfying.
Myth, Folklore & the Storytelling Tradition: Once the fire is established and the dark has settled in, we gather. Harry shares stories drawn from the deep well of British and Celtic folklore, tales of transformation, the wild, and the threshold between worlds. Stories that were always meant to be told beside a fire.
Open Fire & Shared Conversation — The evening ends as it should — unhurried, warm, and open. Food cooked over the fire. Tea. The kind of conversation that only comes when screens are away, and the flames are high.

About Harry Bucknell:

Harry hosts small, intentional gatherings in nature for people who want to slow down and reconnect in a practical, grounded way.
Through seasonal camps, nature dinners, and time around the fire, the aim is simple: to step out of modern life for a while and remember older, steadier ways of living. Events centre around seasonal food, storytelling, music, simple outdoor skills, and meaningful conversation in the woods.
These gatherings are not festivals or survival experiences. They are calm, welcoming spaces designed to help people reset, build community, and return home feeling clearer, more connected, and more at ease.
