Kundalini Yoga, Sacred Kakaw and Harmonising Sound Journey
Friday, July 24
5:00 PM - 8:00 PM local time
About
You are warmly invited to an evening ceremony of sacred kakaw (cacao), kundalini yoga and sound medicine journey.
We will begin by sharing a kakaw ritual together, communing with a beautiful organic ceremonial kakaw tended by a Mayan family in Mexico and brewed with waters of the sacred red and white springs of Glastonbury, UK.
We then move into kundalini yoga kriya and meditation, before relaxing into a long sound medicine journey to integrate and harmonise the work - inviting you to listen deeply with your whole being, rejuvenate on a cellular level, and journey into the unseen.
Instruments include gong, crystal singing bowls, drums, flutes, voice, chimes, rattles and more.
The yoga is accessible for those new to the practice as well as those well experienced, and for all range of fitness and flexibility. Variations are offered throughout for accessibility.
KAKAW RITUAL
We will share a ceremonial brew of the plant Kakaw (a Mayan spelling of Cacao), with honour to traditions Toltec and Mayan.
Kakaw is a medicine for opening the heart, connecting us to the ancestral wisdom in our blood, to our sensuous creativity and inspiration, and to the unseen realms. She is a grandmother plant for bringing about equilibrium and elemental connection, for supporting emotional expression, illuminating the shadows, and celebrating the bliss of existence.
The Kakaw we will be communing with comes from an organic plantation in an ancient jungle in Chiapas, Mexico, where it is lovingly tended by a Mayan family and prepared by hand with the intention for it to be shared ceremonially.
KUNDALINI YOGA & MEDITATION
Kundalini yoga is a yogic practice for stimulating the flow of our life force power, bringing equilibrium to the energetic centres of the body and opening awareness to the guidance of the soul.
It assists us in refining focus of mind and surrendering into expanse, purifying the channels of perception, processing and recapitulating memories, elevating frequency, recalibrating the nervous system to reduce stress and to hold greater charge, supporting the health and wellbeing of the physical body, and developing intuition and self-trust.
It is a spiritual practice for the householder, meaning that it supports us to actively participate in the wider world whilst maintaining a wakeful awareness.
The class is open to all range of experience and ability, including those new to the practice.
HARMONISING SOUND JOURNEY
Sound medicine vibrates the material of our being to bring us into a more harmonious flow or patterning. Amongst other things, it supports our bodies in relaxation, circulation, detoxification, and cellular regeneration. It can guide us into waking dream states whereby we can reconcile subconscious memories, receive clarity and guidance, and journey into the otherwise-unseen.
We will journey with gong, crystal singing bowls, voice, flute, chimes, drum and other percussion.
ANNABELLE CHARANBANI
My path is devoted to the healing and creative arts, supporting people to come into greater presence and to engage with life with more passion, ease, curiosity and confidence. For this, we work towards optimising physical health, creative flow, connecting with spirit, and allowing the soul to lead with greater clarity.
I primarily serve with kundalini yoga and meditation, sound medicine, intuitive storytelling and holistic massage, accompanied by various plants.
This line of work is ultimately about coming to presence and finding balance. Of solar and lunar, personal and impersonal, infinity and finity consciousness, earth-water-wind-fire-ether. It includes detoxing, reconciling and releasing tired memories, finding greater flow with creative energy and joy, and stimulating sensuality. We develop our relationship with the soul, and we become more awake to the ways in which guidance is being transmitted in each moment.
Alongside my studies and certifications in kundalini yoga and sound healing, my approach is informed by:
- nearly 20 years study and practice in various lineages of yoga, inc over 10 years in kundalini;
- living and studying in the mountains of Chiapas, Mexico for some years, learning with nature, wisdom keepers and native medicine practices;
- studies and trainings in the neurophysiology of complex ptsd and its application to embodied practices, alongside my own lived experiences;
- over 10 years of guiding people in intuitive participatory storytelling;
- practising in holistic massage with a combination of TCM and Toltec techniques;
- trainings in energy healing and channelling;
- a background in theatre and the performing arts, as practitioner and teacher, with a BA from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama
I'm in deep gratitude to my many teachers and guides - human, plant, animal, mineral and beings of other kinds - with whose perspective and company I've had the fortune to be gifted. I'm particularly grateful for the guidance of teachers in indigenous lineages from Australia, Mexico, North America and India.
