About
Would you like to be supported with gentle attention as you experience the coastal landscape as a listening body?
Do you feel called to join the creative hum of nature?
Would you like to be part of a group of women exploring together - seeing one another generously, and sharing poetry and simplicity?
This series is an invitation to gather with women and move in conversation with the coast. Together we will open to the land, to voice and to our senses, awakening our connection with the body, with each other and with nature.
These sessions are open to those curious about - or already practising - movement and dance, creative expression, poetry, song and the pulsing vitality of earth, tide and sky.
Body & Voice is a series of seven day-long workshops and one introductory morning. You are welcome to book individual sessions or join the full arc of the series. We meet in village halls / dance studios in morning sessions, and explore coastline in the afternoons.
Sessions 1 & 2 are for Women of Colour only - offering room to gather, move and explore in shared lived experience.
Sessions 3–7 are open and inclusive - welcoming all women.
Each full day includes: morning studio practice, afternoon exploration on location.
This is a Movement for Life community group project, supported by National Lottery Community Funding.

Leela Fisk has been leading community dance projects locally since 2010, working in education since 1999. She has great trust in the company of the ocean, where she finds a conversation of movement, song, poetry and silence.
As founder of the Devon School of Soul Motion and Movement for Life community group, she has trained community dance practitioners and leads ongoing local community dance groups. Her personal practice explores body in landscape, and how movement can reconnect us with our physical nature in an increasingly technological world.
Shashi Salma Darling has developed ‘Wild Divine Dance,’ dance and meditation practices indoors and in nature over the past 28 years though practice as a dance movement psychotherapist, ecopsychologist, conscious dance facilitator, mindfulness and dharma teacher.
Kate has a lifelong passion for connecting with aliveness through movement, nature, and creative expression. She brings her openness, her love of dance, movement, and the natural landscape into her work, alongside her training in drama and movement therapy, environmental arts therapy and embodied leadership.
Her approach is influenced by Soul Motion and mindfulness. Through these practises she invites a space for people to connect with themselves, others and the living landscape.
Kate will be assisting some of the sessions of the Body & Voice series.
