Nomadic Stone
"The Nomadic stone company is a heritage traveling stone carving workshop providing traditional education at festivals and fairs, schools, markets, events and community projects. We are very passionate about sharing our knowledge in the hope that this historic craft is passed on to future generations, enabling this ancient skill to be kept alive. The workshop offers people the opportunity to connect with an extremely versatile and tactile, natural material to create beautiful timeless sculptures with only a hammer, a chisel and their imagination."
Your Facilitators:
Maximus Cotteril
"Award winning heritage stonemason, carver and letter cutter. After completing his apprenticeship at Hereford Cathedral, Max was commissioned to carve a roundel for King Charles’ sculpture garden at Highgrove and has worked on several large restoration projects on historic national trust buildings and churches all over the Bristish Isles. Max studied a post graduate diploma in historic stone carving and classical sculpture at City and Guilds School of art to further his knowledge. He has been working for the last year on the restoration of Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway, and after many years honing his craft Max has returned to the Uk to establish his own personal carving workshop and get Nomadic Stone Co back on the road again after a few years off."
