About

Permission to Pause is a one-day wellbeing retreat created and facilitated by Amy Jaggers , intentional living and mindfulness practitioner and founder of **La Vida Lagom**. Amy works with professionals who spend much of their lives in doing mode - supporting them to step off autopilot and reconnect with balance, clarity, and presence through the philosophy of lagom: not too much, not too little, just the right amount.

Held at**Paus**, an oasis of calm in the Cambridgeshire countryside inspired by the same Scandinavian principles of balance and simplicity, Permission to Pause offers a setting that mirrors the intention of the day. The retreat is designed specifically for professionals who carry responsibility, make decisions, and hold space for others - often without giving themselves time to slow down.

This is not a workshop and there is nothing to fix, learn, or optimise. Instead, Permission to Pause offers a rare opportunity to step out of constant motion and simply be. The day unfolds gently, beginning and ending in circle, with space for quiet reflection, nourishing food, time in nature, restorative experiences, and unstructured rest.

Through guided meditation, shared presence, warm water, wholesome meals, and moments of stillness, participants are supported to settle their nervous system and reconnect with their own rhythm. Everything is optional, and the pace is intentionally slow.

Permission to Pause is for those who know they need rest but find it hard to commit to longer retreats. It offers a single, spacious day - no packing, no planning, no pressure - just time to breathe, reset, and return to everyday life feeling grounded, replenished, and more connected.

Agenda

The day begins with a warm welcome circle, inviting participants to arrive slowly and transition out of the outside world. An optional cacao is offered, followed by a guided meditation to ground, settle, and bring attention into the present moment.

Midway through the day, participants gather to enjoy a freshly prepared, locally sourced meal at the Hilltop Bistro. The menu is European-inspired and warming, made with PAUS-grown vegetables , seasonal ingredients, and a love of simple, home-cooked food. This shared meal is designed to nourish both body and soul, with time to eat, connect, and savour.

The afternoon opens into unstructured time, allowing participants to follow their own rhythm. Some may choose to relax in the hot tubs, sauna, or cold pools , while others may prefer to rest, read, journal, walk, or sit quietly in the surrounding countryside. There is no expectation to do anything - this time is about slowing down and simply being.

Later in the day, the group gently returns together via the barefoot nature walk , with the option to walk in shared silence. This walk offers a moment of grounding in nature, inviting participants to slow their pace, feel the textures underfoot, and attune to the sounds and rhythms of the natural world.

The retreat closes with a final circle , offering space to reflect, integrate, and prepare to re-enter everyday life. The day concludes with departure in the early evening.
