About
An evening of real talk, new friends & wild tales
Tired of small talk? So are we.
Come drop the mask and dive into something a little more real.
Join us for a night of Psychedelic Speed-Friending , where curiosity, courage and connection take centre stage. We’ll gently guide you through playful ice-breakers and juicy conversation prompts designed to help you meet new people in meaningful ways. Think slow, soul-nourishing conversations rather than frantic networking. Expect short but impactful heart-to-hearts in pairs and trios. Plus plenty of time to flow freely with whoever you vibe with most.
Once the room’s warmed up and hearts are open, we shift into Psychedelic Storytelling, our beloved open mic session where you get the chance to take the stage. Share your story, whether it’s strange, tender, funny, or downright mystical. There’s no need to be polished or profound, just honest. Stories are 5 minutes max, and you can sign up on the night.
**A Beautiful Psychedelic Community: ** Get access to our wonderful community coalescing around all things fungi. Many people at our socials have become life-long friends. Most of our members come alone, this is a safe and welcoming space for everyone, no matter your age, sexuality, background, gender, ethnicity or nationality. Fungi know no boundaries, which is the ethos we bring to our socials.

The Walrus, Ship Street, Brighton, Brighton and Hove, Brighton, UK
We will be in ‘The Hideaway’ at the cosy Walrus pub - walk through the ground floor and up a few steps. If you're not sure where you're going, please just ask the bar staff to point you in the right direction.
We kindly ask that you arrive no later than 6.45pm so we can begin on time and close the container for deep connection and conversation. Everyone is welcome to stay to socialise in the pub after the facilitated part of the evening comes to a close at 9pm.
Drinks are available from the bar in the main part of the pub before we start, during the interval and after we finish at 9pm.
Please note that this venue does have a few steps into the room itself - so get in touch in advance if you have particular accessibility needs and we'll do our best to support.

Mags Houston is a heart-led facilitator and community builder with roots in marketing, brand storytelling, and drug policy advocacy. Passionate about creating spaces for connection and collective growth, she has been curating and hosting events with The Psychedelic Society since 2020 - from sell-out Speed-Friending nights to intimate socials and talks exploring psychedelic science and culture.
Her commitment to UK drug policy reform, in particular medical cannabis and psychedelics, led her to running a medical cannabis study with Prof David Nutt's charity, Drug Science, as well as building marketing initiatives for Releaf, one of the UK's most successful medical cannabis clinics.
Based in Brighton since early 2023, Mags co-founded Connection Jam, an alternative social that blends play, movement, and authentic connection, and loves to create spaces that weave together her insights from Authentic Relating, Internal Family Systems, and tantric communication training.
